What I Loved About the 2010 Salsa Conference

By Dheeraj Chand - June 28th, 2010

I recently had the good fortune of attending the Salsa Labs Community Conference 2010 and speaking on their panel about integrating Salsa with various content management systems. Even if I weren't speaking on a panel, I would have had a great time. I am already a huge proponent of their technology, and I definitely love the community of people who use it.

Page-Speed Optimization and Load Time with Drupal

By Michael Guild - June 14th, 2010

A few tips for improving page-load-speed is to:

  • Run tests to track overall speed and see in what areas your site can improve
  • Make fewer HTTP requests
  • Use CDN
  • Increase front-end speed lt;/li>
  • Increase back-end speed
  • Use monitoring tools

These subjects are extensive on their own, and will be only briefly covered in this article. For further and in-depth information visit: http://wimleers.com/article/improving-drupals-page-loading-performance.

Accessibility in Drupal

By Michael Guild - May 18th, 2010

What is User Accessibility? The basic idea is that it's something everyone can access. In developing websites, we are strive for uniformity in all browsers, but rarely consider uniformity for all users. The truth is that 1:5 users has a disability and, in most cases, two or more types of disabilities.

If these disabilities are not addressed during development, websites have the potential to lose 20% of potential users.

The fundamentals of web accessibility standards are set by, but are not limited to, The W3C.

Thinking About GIS for Your Websites? You Should.

By Dheeraj Chand - May 9th, 2010

It seems like every day there's something new that people say a website “Absolutely Must Have!”. Streaming audio? Flash games? A blog? If it’s of value to your stakeholders, keep packing the features in. Today’s must? GIS. Except that this is actually a really, really good idea in almost all cases.

So, what's GIS? It’s a Geographic Information System is any system that collects, manages, analyses and presents geographically referenced data. Sounds like a mouthful, huh? In other words, it’s a way of taking your data and presenting them to your audience according to a coordinate system.

Things I Don't Like About Drupal

By Curtis Morehead - April 7th, 2010

So last time, we talked about the things I loved about Drupal. This time around, we'll cover the things that I like considerably less. None of these should be construed as a reason to shy away from the platform. They're just things that I wouldn't mind seeing improved.

Things I Love About Drupal

By Curtis Morehead - February 21st, 2010

So its been about six months since I've been working with Drupal and about two since I really immersed myself into learning just about everything there is to know. Its been a mostly positive experience, but there has been some negative. This post will cover the positive aspects. Watch out for my next post where I go into some of the negatives.
