Cerebral palsy is a neurodevelopmental condition that begins early in life and persists throughout adulthood. CP is the most common developmental disorder in the US. CP prevalence is estimated to be 2.5 to 4 cases per 1000 live births annually.

The United Cerebral Palsy Research and Educational Foundation (UCPREF) is the principal non-governmental institution in the US supporting research and educational efforts into the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of cerebral palsy. In its 50 year history, UCPREF has supported research that eliminated two major causes of CP: congenital rubella syndrome and neonatal jaundice. In addition, UCPREF has supported more than 500 other research projects at a cost of over $40 million.

How You Can Help - UCPREF believes that much more work can be done to prevent, treat and cure cerebral palsy. Unfortunately, public funding of cerebral palsy research is very low compared with other childhood conditions.
