The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and Carousel30 recently partnered to create five interactive games for McGruff.org, the Web site of McGruff the Crime Dog. Twenty-five years in the making, McGruff is still sporting his famed trench coat and providing children with everyday safety advice. While our inner child leapt at the opportunity, working on the interactive games proved to be a wonderful creative challenge for us.

Carousel30 was commissioned not only to develop the interactive Flash games, but also to create game ideas, write the scripts adhering to key McGruff messages and design the interfaces. The target audience was boys and girls between the ages of 7 to 10. Needless to say, this made for some fun brainstorming sessions.
The five games include Water Balloon Splash, an interactive water balloon fight, McGruff Band, a Guitar Hero-style game set to McGruff songs, Safety Gate, Word Libs and McGruff Trivia, which features a hidden bonus round.
The games launched in October and have given an entertaining and engaging lift to McGruff.org. “Carousel30 was a pleasure to work with. Their team was talented and flexible. They listened to our feedback and delivered work that exceeded my expectations. Their creativity and ingenuity were invaluable to the success of our project,” said Jason Wilkens of the National Crime Prevention Council.
